Gino Reda is the long-time host of Canada’s #1 daily hockey magazine show, That’s Hockey, keeping viewers up-to-date on all the latest headlines from the world of hockey.

Reda joined TSN in 1988 as a reporter and was quickly promoted to host of SportsCentre (then called SportsDesk). He anchored more than 3,000 shows over 12 years on SportsCentre, before taking over the reigns of That’s Hockey in 2001.

During his tenure at TSN, Reda hosted numerous IIHF World Junior Championships, including the Gemini Award-winning 2003 World Juniors, in which the gold medal game attracted 3.5 million viewers, which at the time made it the most-watched program of all time on TSN.

Reda has also covered various events and shows on TSN, including NBA Tonight, FIFA World Cup, Canadian Hockey League, That’s Golf and Rugby World Cup. He has hosted four Olympic Games for CTV and TSN, including overnight/early morning coverage of Seoul 1988, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and served as a hockey analyst during Vancouver 2010.

Reda, who was born in England and moved to Canada in 1964, began working in television in 1976 at a local cable TV station as a 16-year-old high school student in Etobicoke, ON. He worked there until 1984 as the play-by-play commentator for numerous high school sports, including football, lacrosse, hockey and basketball.

From 1983 to 1987, Reda worked as a freelance play-by-play announcer for the Humber College Hawks, Junior B Hockey, Junior A Box Lacrosse, National Soccer League and the Canadian National Gymnastics Championships.

In 1985-86 and 1986-87, Reda hosted and produced a live weekly one-hour sports talk show on the Maclean-Hunter cable system, winning an award for best regular sports program both seasons. From 1989 to 1994, Reda called the play-by-play action for lacrosse, amateur baseball, rugby and the Canadian cycling tour while continuing his reporting and hosting duties on TSN.

Reda devotes much of his time to numerous charitable organizations. For the past 15 years, he has worked closely with World Vision Canada, raising money and awareness for children living in impoverished countries. In 2007, Reda traveled to Tanzania and Malawi in Africa to host a TV special for World Vision Canada. He is also a member of the SickKids Foundation Constellation of Stars, which celebrates celebrities who continue to show a long-term commitment to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Reda has also been involved with Bloorview Children’s Hospital for the past 13 years, helping raise awareness for its children’s rehabilitation programs. In 2005, Reda was awarded the National Volunteer of the Year award by Special Olympics Canada, where he has been a volunteer since 1997.
